Screen East is the regional screen agency for the East of England dedicated to developing a thriving film, TV and digital media industry. The agency helps the region achieve prominence for the creative industries by attracting and assisting productions; encouraging the making of innovative and distinctive UK films; fostering the growth of new and emerging talent and widening audience horizons.

Funded by the UK Film Council and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), Screen East allocates Lottery funding through the Regional Investment Fund for England (RIFE), and has recently been awarded £2m from the European Regional Development Fund to invest in new production projects.

The East of England has a long history of hosting some of the biggest names in film and television. It is home to two of the UK\’s most prestigious films studios which are at the forefront of world class film and television production.

Screen East offers a free service to productions interested in filming in the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Screen East Locations has a database of over 7,000 diverse locations ranging from remote coastline to uninterrupted skylines; imposing stately homes to modern urban landscapes; quintessential English villages to immense tracks of farmland and rolling landscape. The locations department can assist with film facilitation, provide film friendly local authority and police contacts and source temporary production bases.

Productions filming in the East of England can draw on a highly developed support structure and workforce. Screen East holds a comprehensive database of over 2,000 crew, facilities and services covering every craft and specialism. Some of the most skilled crew in the world are based in the region and offer a wealth of experience, knowledge and craft skills. For every step of the production process, you can find everything needed to make a film or a television programme right here in the East of England. Whatever the production budget there are facilities and services easily available in the region from pyrotechnics and broadcast services to post production and underwater studios.
