As Chief Executive of Northwest Vision and Media, I’m proud of all we have to offer in our region and delighted at how successful our industries are. We have a wealth of talent across the board and year after year we continue to produce national and international successes. Northwest Vision and Media is here to help build on these successes and create opportunities for those who haven’t yet made their mark. We represent and support the film, TV, radio, digital and games industries in our region. Our work is varied, from encouraging, promoting and assisting productions to investing in companies and products. We also provide valuable industry led skills training and development to ensure those working in our industries have all the up to date skills that our industries need and we invest in festivals and archive with a view to making it as accessible and inspirational as possible to audiences.

We are an incredible film friendly region. We boast the UK’s most experienced and established network of Film Offices. Based in Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Liverpool and Manchester, we provide a free, bespoke film liaison service. Location filming in the region is at an all time high with more than a doubling of the independent TV sector and at least a three fold increase in production. There are a hundreds of incredible locations to choose from. The Northwest has a stunning mix of contemporary buildings and industrial architecture which nestle next to traditional mill towns, canals and mountains. There are tranquil lakes, quaint villages and miles of spectacular coastline. And with Liverpool as European Capital of Culture this year, the accolade is sure to have a lasting effect across the rest of the region.

Perhaps one of the most exciting developments for our industries not only in the Northwest but nationally and internationally is Mediacity:UK. This is a fantastic opportunity for our region and we are delighted to be able to play our part in it. It will see the creation of a real, innovative media hub that will put us at the forefront of technological and creative development. Crucially it will also provide over 15,000 job opportunities as well as a state of the art environment in which to work and live.
